XXXBBII

Art Book Weekend is a showcase of artists’ books at the artist-run gallery Demon’s Mouth in Oslo. During four days the audience will experience more than one hundred book projects from more than seventy artists. The selected books represent different categories within contemporary art production and introduce a variety of substantive and formal tendencies. From small editions, Print on Demand and Self-publishing to more costly productions and established publishers, from the visual to the text based and from the ephemeral to the experimental.

Since the 1960s, the book has gradually asserted itself as a democratic art object. Today artists’ books are being produced, published and distributed more than ever. This exhibition presents a selection of local and international projects from artists who insist on the book as a form of expression and method, both as an independent art form and as an extension of other works.

Buy your favorite book:
On the last day of the show, we’ll have a “Sell-Out-Sunday.” Stop by or reserve your book up front.
